Happy Sounds: Zee Avi

Dear Friends,

One of my favorite happy-listening music is artist Zee Avi.  Her newest album is called Nightlight, and is filled with covers of beloved songs like Don't Worry Be Happy and Dream A Little Dream of Me sung in lullaby-fashion.

Until Soon,

Here is a snippet from her online bio:
Zee Avi is a Malaysian singer/songwriter, guitarist, ukulele player and visual  artist. She is also the winner of the The International Youth Icon Award in 2011 in her birth home Sarawak which has lead to inspirational speaking engagments to young people around the world. She has lived and sold albums all over the world. She was born in Sarawak on the island of Borneo and moved to Kuala Lumpur at the age of 12. Her college years were spent in London at the American InterContinental University where Zee studied Fashion Design.  She now resides in the United States.

She was first "discovered" after posting a video on Youtube of her cover "No Christmas for Me" (original by Koko Kaina).  She immediately received offers of record deals, and signed with Jack Johnson's Brushfire Records.  On her third album, she possesses a wide range of styles, and has been compared to other soulful singers like Billie Holiday & Ella Fitzgerald.

Her first video, No Christmas for Me

The first Zee song I remember hearing, Bitter Heart
